A newly completed HEAL project, the expansion of the children’s quarters, has brought great joy, gratitude, and relief to the orphans and poor children of the Compassionate Home! Your generosity has resolved many issues negatively affecting the lives of our children.
Before the project, tight living quarters caused great discomfort for the children who slept over twenty to a room and two per small bed. Also, due to the intense heat and humidity inside, they would often wander out into the dark of night and risk being injured and exposed to bug bites.
Thanks to the expansion, the children now have enough space to sleep comfortably and feel relaxed. As a result, they don’t seek relief by leaving their rooms at times of day or night when it isn’t safe. Also, we are confident that the improved living conditions will help the children perform better in their daily tasks and academic work.
Termites Invade the Compassionate Home
While the additional space has improved our conditions, some areas of the Home’s flooring and roofing have been structurally weakened by exposure to termites. If a child steps on a structurally weak board, serious injury could result from blunt trauma or piercing by a nail. The latter scenario could result in tetanus, which is deadly in Nigeria.
Regarding the roof, one of the MOJ sisters has had to evade a falling piece of wood. We have fumigated the roof numerous times, but it hasn’t eliminated the termites. If we do not exterminate the termites in short order, the affected floor and roof spaces will worsen and cause more safety hazards. And so, we must appeal again to HEAL to help us resolve this issue.
The children at the Compassionate Home will forever bless the Lord for your unconditional love and support! It is our joy and consolation to see critical projects realized which seemed impossible before HEAL. More grease to all your elbows, as you continue to provide for the HEAL mission!
May Elohim provide much grace for your own rainy days!
