It’s been two years since HEAL was founded, and I am so thankful to you and all our supporters.  When Deacon Leo Okonkwo visited Chicago back in August, we organized a prayer breakfast at a restaurant in Niles.  Some of our friends offered their thoughts about HEAL’s mission and we would like to share them with you.

At our prayer breakfast during Deacon Leo’s visit to the U.S in August.

Richard Portis, husband of Maria and father of 3 beautiful girls, Olivia, Naomi, and Sophia, is a strong supporter of HEAL.  Richard consults with us regarding the proper execution of our projects in addition to helping us fund them.  In this regard, he teaches us how charity must be combined with wise stewardship.

Kevin “Leo” Fitzpatrick is a friend whom I met in the fall of 2013 while volunteering for a political campaign that Kevin was managing.  If you’re wondering why HEAL would be involved in a political campaign, remember that building an organization is all about networking!

Dr. Greg Kirschner is a natural ally of HEAL and hadn’t met myself or Rev. Leo in person before the prayer breakfast.  Dr. Greg has made several medical mission trips to Nigeria and wanted to come and lend his moral support to our mission.

Hearing the complementary words of such upstanding Christian men on behalf of HEAL certainly made me proud as president.  It also motivates me to perform my role more worthily each day on behalf of the poor and marginalized orphans and widows we serve!
