I have an update about Blessing, which I’m excited to share because many have been asking about her since I first wrote!
But first, let’s review her story.
In April, we revealed Blessing’s need for a procedure called Triple Arthrodesis to remedy her Polio induced clubbed foot.
We appealed for $8,000 to cover the surgery and raised it within a few days! Blessing expressed gratitude for the chance to walk normally again through this promising medical treatment.
Because of the COVID-19 lockdown in Nigeria, however, we had to wait over a month before admitting Blessing to nearby Holy Rosary Hospital.
Now that you are up to speed, I am happy to announce that Blessing has been prepared for her surgery at the hospital! The doctors treated some painful sores on her leg and also gave her a few units of blood.
But, mental preparation was the most important part. “Blessing appeared scared when she arrived, but we helped her understand she is in safe hands”, said Dr. Jane Frances Okonkwo, part of the surgical team.

Blessing has a very positive attitude going into her surgery, in a few days. “I can already imagine being able to walk properly and play with my friends without having to endure so much pain”, she said.
Thanks to you and other generous HEAL patrons, Blessing is on the threshold of a new life filled with promise. Her restored ability to walk on a reformed foot without pain will open up many doors of opportunity.
Please keep Blessing and her surgical team in your prayers! I will be updating you very soon on how the surgery went!
