Student Dormitory

Help HEAL Build a Dormitory for Student Orphans!

WATCH – Project Video

338 poor and marginalized children attend BOMCA Academy in Akpim village. 46 of the students are fatherless, needing year-round room & board or else be exposed to the dangerous risks of living as vagabonds with their abandoned widowed mothers. As a stopgap, HEAL has converted two classrooms in the school into makeshift living quarters for these children. With 23 crammed into each room, the children have insufficient privacy and space to adequately complete important tasks such as homework without distractions. Also, because these two classrooms are not being used for classes, students are overcrowding the remaining classrooms on school days which negatively impacts the learning environment. To give our 46 orphan students a proper residence and end the problem of overcrowded classrooms, HEAL will construct a free-standing dormitory very close to the school.
