Shelter Repair
We repaired our shelter to improve living conditions for orphans!
The Mother Enabler Compassionate Home (MECH) provides shelter and a venue for extracurricular activities for 128 poor & marginalized children and orphans of Umuagwu village. 12 of the 128 children are orphans who live at the home with 2 Messengers of Justice (MOJ) sisters. The remaining 116 children come to the home for a daily meal in the refectory and various activities such as prayer, farm work, and games organized by the MOJs. Unfortunately, time and erosion have weakened the structure of the home to the point it has become a safety hazard unable to shield residents and guests from heavy rains or the nuisance of rodents and reptiles entering through holes and cracks. Through our partnership with the local contractor who originally built the home in 2006, HEAL will repair and renovate the home to restore its functionality for the development of children.
